	(Amanda’s smartphone pings)
Amanda:	Oh god – another mail.
Stuart:	Don’t read it. Just delete it.
Amanda:	I have to look. I have to know what people are saying about me. And maybe whoever’s sending these mails might have left some clue, so that we can work out who it is.
Stuart:	I still think you shouldn’t read it.
Amanda:	Oh god.
Stuart:	You see?
Amanda:	Yes, you were right. It’s getting worse.
Stuart:	Let’s see. “We don’t want you in our class. Why don’t you go and drown yourself?” Look, you mustn’t read any more of these mails. Just delete them all. And you have to talk to someone about it. Your dad, or your mum, or the counselling teacher in the school. You can’t face this on your own.

Mr et Mrs Smith vivent dans un quartier respectable. Ils sont horrifiés de découvrir que leurs nouveaux voisins sont une famille de vampires. Leur fils Rick, en revanche, semble immédiatement attiré par la fille des vampires, Phylthia.
Les Smith parviendront-ils à oublier leur haine des vampires? Ont-ils le droit d’empêcher leur fils de fréquenter la jolie voisine? Quelles sont les vraies intentions de Phylthia envers Rick? Rick sera-t-il la victime des vampiresques attentions du père de Phylthia, le terrifiant Comte Spatula? Et le public est-il en sécurité quand le Comte Spatula a soif?

Neighbours With Long Teeth est une piéce sur le racisme, les conflits parents-enfants, l’amour adolescent et…les vampires!

Mr. Smith:	Richard, I hope you will have nothing to do with these... people…things…whatever they are.
Rick:	Vampires, Dad…
Mr. Smith:	Yes. Vampires. I hope you will have nothing to do with them.
Rick:	Why not?
Mr. Smith:	They are different from us. They…live…differently.
Mrs Smith:	They don’t understand our ways, and we don’t understand their ways.
Mr. Smith:	It’s disgusting that they are moving into this neighbourhood.
Rick:	They’ve got to live somewhere, Dad.
Mrs Smith:	Of course they have. But not in a respectable part of the town like this.
Mr. Smith:	They should go and live…where they come from.

Oliver Twist

Pour la saison 2014-2015, Peter Griffith propose une nouvelle version de l’histoire, de niveau intermédiaire, pour les 13-17 ans.

Oliver Twist est né dans l’hospice pour pauvres de sa paroisse. Personne ne sait qui sont ses parents. Pendant les neuf premières années de sa vie, il ne fait que subir la cruauté de ceux qui ont sa charge. Quand Oliver s’enfuit à Londres, sa situation ne fait qu’empirer. Fagin le prend sous son aile et lui apprend à devenir pickpocket. Puis Bill, la brute qui sert d’acolyte à Fagin a besoin d’un jeune garçon pour commettre un cambriolage…

Le roman Oliver Twist raconte une histoire passionnante et en même temps c’est un plaidoyer passionné pour la justice envers les pauvres, pour que la société, à tous les niveaux, adopte des valeurs dignes de la condition humaine.

Narration:	The workhouse children were beaten every day and given very little food. One day Oliver was so hungry that he stood up from the dinner-table.
Oliver:	Please sir, I want some more.
Mr. Bumble:	What!
Oliver:	Please sir, I want some more.
Mr. Bumble:	I beg your pardon! Oliver Twist has asked for more! I heard him ask for more, after he had eaten his supper! He did! This boy will come to be hung!
